Meet the Architect
Ashli grew up in Northwest Montana and attended Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, where she earned a Bachelor of Architecture and a Minor in Industrial Management. She joined the Army through an ROTC scholarship and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Army Corps of Engineers in 1996. Ashli served in various roles, including Platoon Leader, Construction Administrator, and Executive Officer, before leaving the military as a Captain.
After her military service, Ashli transitioned to private practice as an architect, starting in Missouri and later moving to Connecticut, where she became a licensed architect. She spent 15 years in northern Kentucky, running two successful businesses—Ashli Slawter Architecture and Schone Kitchen Design—and designing homes across several states. In 2010, she designed Kentucky’s first LEED-certified Gold home, the Lookout House.
Ashli is deeply involved in community activities, serving on local boards, chairing committees, and participating in charities. She continues this commitment in Sandpoint where she is active on the Visit Sandpoint committee, the Lost in the 50s planning team and serves as the J24 fleet captain with the Sandpoint Sailing Association. She recently served as the commodore of North Flathead Yacht Club and is active with PEO chapter CB in Lakeside, MT.
Ashli lives in Sandpoint, Idaho with her husband Chris where she practices architecture and does marketing and promotions for Connie’s Cafe & Lounge and The Iron Pizza Co.
As an architect, Ashli is dedicated to creating homes that reflect her clients’ unique stories, believing that every project, no matter the size, benefits from thoughtful design.
