Meet the Architect
Ashli grew up in Kalispell, Montana near Glacier National Park in the beautiful Rocky Mountains. She left Montana to attended Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. While at CMU she studied architecture earning a Bachelor of Architecture degree and a Minor in Industrial Management. Ashli attended CMU on an Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) scholarship and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Army Corps of Engineers, in June of 1996.

While in the U.S. Army Ashli served in a Heavy Construction Battalion based out of Ft. Lewis, Washington. She was the Platoon Leader of two construction platoons acting as both leader and construction manager. Following her time as a Platoon Leader, she served as a Construction Administrator, Intelligence Officer, Training Officer, and rounded out her career as an Executive Officer of a 210 soldier Headquarters Company.

Ashli left the military, as a Captain, with an Honorable Discharge and ventured into private practice as an architect. She started her career in Missouri, with a small firm, completing both residential and light commercial projects. In 2002, Ashli and family moved to Connecticut where she focused on residential design. She finished taking her professional licensing exams and became a licensed architect.

Ashli spent 15 years in northern Kentucky where she owned two very successful businesses Ashli Slawter Architecture and Schone Kitchen Design. During this time she designed homes built in Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan, Montana, and Alaska.

In 2010, Ashli designed and built the first LEED certified Gold home in the state of Kentucky. Visit the Lookout House to learn more.

Ashli is a community builder and contributor. While in Kentucky she served on the Fort Thomas Board of Adjustments, was the chairman of the Renaissance Committee, participated in local charities and PTO, and served as the race director for the Brookville Lake Sailing Association.

Her dedication to community continues today. She is a member of PEO chapter CB, a member of the Lakeside / Somers chamber of commerce and served as the commodore of the North Flathead Yacht Club for two years. Ashli splits her time between Lakeside, MT and Sandpoint, ID with her husband Chris Ankney. Her two children Jack (21) and Sydney (19) attend MSU and MSUN in Montana.

Ashli believes all projects no matter their size benefit from quality design and she strives as an architect to make your home the story of your life; a beautiful place for living that is "uniquely you". Give her a call to learn more!
